Brenda Blethyn is terrific playing an elderly, neglected pensioner who finds an unlikely ally in her withdrawn younger neighbour. The film shines a light on the failures of social care and the universal issue of caring for the elderly and other people on the margins.
“A haunting, genre-defying drama. Brenda Blethyn and Andrea Riseborough are superb as two neighbours thrown together by neglect. They are supported by an outstanding turn from Jason Watkins. It’s a stark, fierce, wonderfully acted film.” The Guardian
